Purple proso 3g
Panicum violaceum
An annual grass reaching a height of 70-100 cm, strongly branched. Its stiff, upright stems are topped with spike-like inflorescences of green color with a purple hue, resembling a long-haired brush. An excellent grass for naturalistic plantings. The inflorescences are suitable for dry bouquets, and the hulled seeds as bird food.
Sow the seeds directly into the ground from April to mid-May. After the plants have emerged, thin them out to a spacing of 20x30 cm. It prefers moderately fertile, well-drained soil and a sunny location.
