Vegetable asparagus ARGENTEUIL 1g (Asparagus officinalis)
A perennial plant. The edible part consists of white shoots usually harvested daily in spring until mid-June. Sow seeds in spring in a nursery in rows every 30cm and every -10cm within the row. To speed up germination, soak the seeds in water at room temperature for 3-4 days. In the following spring, plant the young crowns in rows spaced 150x150cm in trenches 20-25cm deep. Intensively fertilize the plants in the second year to promote strong growth. In the third year of cultivation, form mounds and ridges under the crowns, 30-35cm high. Cut emerging shoots before or shortly after their tips appear. In mid-June of each year, dig up the mounds or ridges and leave the emerging shoots to grow. It grows best in lighter soils rich in calcium.
