Brassica rapa ssp. chinensis
A one-year plant that can be harvested after 5-6 weeks of cultivation. Its white, wide, fleshy leaf stalks are consumed raw (in salads) like Chinese cabbage or cooked. It is grown like Chinese cabbage, preferably as a cover crop. Seeds are sown in trays from June to July or directly into the ground from mid-July to mid-August in rows 30 cm apart, at a depth of 1 cm. Plant seedlings remain in the row every -30 cm. Grow in fertile, moist soil. Plants can withstand frosts down to -5 degrees Celsius.
