Cucurbita pepo
An early variety with a bushy habit. The fruits are club-shaped with delicate grooves, with a marbled skin that is dark green with elongated light green spots that turn yellow as the fruit ripens. The flesh is creamy green, particularly tasty in young fruits. Raw, young fruits (18-20 cm long) can be used to make salads or pickled whole, while slightly older ones, after peeling and removing the seed cavity, are eaten cooked or fried. The plant grows best in fertile soils and in a sunny position.
