GARDEN LOVAGE
A perennial plant. The leaves, rhizomes, and roots are used as a seasoning. Leaves are added to soups, sauces, salads, stews, and meat dishes. The root and rhizome are mainly used. A decoction of the root stimulates digestion, has expectorant, cholagogue, carminative, and diuretic properties. GARDEN LOVAGE requires a warm, sunny location, permeable soil, warm, and rich in calcium. It can be grown from direct sowing or seedlings.
