A plant with leaves forming basal rosettes. Medium to large flowers, gathered in umbels. Sow seeds in a greenhouse in boxes from January to March. Freezing the seeds causes faster and more even germination. Plant in a permanent location in September or April of the following year. Blooms from February to May in the second year of cultivation. Excellent spring plant for borders, rock gardens, and container cultivation. Requires fertile, moderately moist soil.
