Atlantic Giant Pumpkin - round, orange
Cucurbita maxima
A variety with giant fruits (up to 300 kg). Strongly growing plants with branching, creeping stems. The fruits are round or oval, slightly ribbed with an orange skin. The flesh is yellow, rich in B-group vitamins, vitamin C, folic acid, and lecithin. It is great for direct consumption and pickling. The fruits can be stored throughout the winter. Sow the seeds directly into the ground in early May, with a spacing of 2 x 1.5 m and 2-3 seeds in one spot. You can also prepare seedlings in pots by sowing them at the end of April and transplanting them to their permanent location in mid-May. It grows best in fertile, moist soil.
